Chef Martin Zupanc – From Notes to Knives, Always Guided by Heart

Before the trumpet, before the titles, there was a boy stirring pots in a warm kitchen, learning the quiet magic of home-cooked food. Though he first studied music, it was the kitchen — not the stage — that truly called to him.

Martin honed his craft in Michelin-starred restaurants across Slovenia and Austria, learning precision, patience, and the poetry of flavor. In 2023, his passion earned him 2nd place at the European Young Chefs Competition in Italy.

But even among stars, Martin knew where he belonged. Back in Bohinj, surrounded by the mountains and memories that shaped him, he now breathes new life into Slovenian dishes — blending tradition with the wisdom gathered from far and wide.

Every plate he serves is a quiet tribute to home.
